First Snow Haibun

For a couple of years in the 90’s, I was the traffic reporter for a local radio station.  Every morning I would fire up a Cessna 152 at 7 A.M. and cruise the skies over Burlington, Vermont for 90 minutes, broadcasting every quarter hour.   It was all a bit of a joke, since drivers in that small town had nowhere to go when I reported a problem. For some reason, however, many folks enjoyed the novelty.  Summer flying was fun, but winter was a different story:

cold winter pre-flight

alone in the bright darkness

snow-bandaged plane
